An Aircraft Engineers salary is usually considered good in any part of the world. but an Aircraft mechanics salary is not great compared to other industries. Finding job too for a mechanic is not easy as its advertised by your AME school.
Apart from Aircraft Engineers salary, if he/she is working with an airliner he/she is eligible for one free ticket annually for self and family. And furthermore he/she is eligible for confirmed tickets with discounts (usually 50 off percent excluding tax) for the immediate family. some Airlines extend this facility that he/she can get tickets with discount for wider family (eg : nieces and cousins) and even friends. But you have to assure whom you buying is behaving well in the fight. These benefits are Applicable for mechanics too apart form their salary. These airline staffs are eligible for standby tickets too. you will be only boarded to the aircraft if there is an empty seat. the discount excluding tax for these tickets can be as high as 90 percent. yes I wrote it correct, you will be paying only 10 percent of the fare plus all taxes.
Personally, when I was unmarried availed lots tickets and travelled across Europe, but when spoke to some of colleagues in middle East and Asia they told me that the salary is not enough for them survive. So therefore they need to do overtime during their off days.

Air Asia offers MYR 3300 (US$825) per month for a technician plus allowance which would make up to 5000 (US$ 1250). It offers the licensed engineer MYR 10000 (US$ 2500) per month.
Malaysian Airlines pays MYR1800 per month Aircraft technicians.

These are rough calculations but there are companies that pay great remunerations. Few military Aircraft and its component servicing company in UAE and middle east pay great package. A technican may easily make $ 72000 in year.
As of 2020, the salaries mentioned above are for top companies. Emirates, Fly Dubai, Etihad and Air Arabia.
But locally MRO companies are paying very low
I recently met an Aircraft Technician working for an AMO is paid only AED 1000. This is less than US$ 300. Very very low as per middle east living standards.

Most Probably the terrible place to start an AME career. Extremely hard to find a job for a fresher.. lots of political influence or internal reference is required to get in to major airline or MRO. The small airline may not pay salary for freshers.
